This bar’s interior flaunts the Jamaican flag and its colors, red, green and yellow, and serves Red Stripe and rum punch to the crowds. It’s almost like visiting a bar in Jamaica, except, well, not so much during Chicago’s winters.
Wild Hare calls itself the “reggae capital of the world.” Stretching the truth? With performers such as Rita Marley and Tony Reble, plus other local and national bands, it’s not too much of a stretch. The stage is big and the crowd is always upbeat – you won’t find many people sitting in their seats here. Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there is a $5 cover charge, Friday $10, and $12 on Saturdays (and Monday is hip-hop night, so if you go for free reggae, you’ll be disappointed). But trust us, if reggae’s your thing, this place is worth the admission, mon.
