Although die-hard Chicago-blues fans may deem this franchise to pathetically pander to posers, House of Blues undeniably remains a favorable stomping-ground for tourists, locals, and the occasional celebrity. The Music Hall, Back Porch restaurant, and members-only Foundation Room occupy this popular mainstay, attracting diversified music lovers. Concerts in the Music Hall engender most business at Muddy Waters Bar, located in the Cajon-style restaurant. HOBs versatility of musical genres mirrors the versatility of its patrons. Mishmash décor reflects the exuberance atmosphere. Folk art, along with Day of the Dead skulls, adorns the multi-colored walls. Andrew Woods heavenly-hued plaster-reliefs of classic blues artists encase much of the ceiling, resembling skylights. For the exception of open-mic Mondays, this venue hosts live blues every night. Sundays praise-worthy Gospel Brunch entails local choir performances, a soulful buffet, and an abundance of alleviating-the-hangover drinks.
