This neighborhood pub, located in Hyde Park, is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall. The name Bamboo Lounge sounds trendy and hip, but that won’t exactly be the case when you show up; instead of women in stilettos you see guys from the neighborhood in jeans and T-shirts. But why does anyone go to a bar anyway? To drink, and Bamboo Lounge can accomplish that. It was built by a beer company in the 1920s. The two-story building's facade is topped by a stone Schlitz globe logo, reminiscent of earlier years. The same Schlitz logo is in the bar’s front window in the form of a neon sign. Inside, the bar’s vibe is warm and friendly; the neighborhood crowd won’t mind you as long as you’re drinking. Which is easy to do: the beer is cheap and the bartenders keep your glass full.
